about methods & madness

Methods & Madness is the umbrella for the projects of chef Tessa Liebman in Brooklyn, New York. From catering services to food media content development to sourcing, staffing and training for food-related projects, Methods & Madness produces delicious projects infused with mindfulness, method, warmth and whimsy.

about tessa:

Tessa Liebman has been cooking in her hometown of New York City for over twelve years in the kitchens of restaurants, catering companies, and private homes. A graduate of The French Culinary Institute (The ICC), she taught a culinary program for underemployed adults for two years and won a culinary travel grant to Mexico in 2007 from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. As the Executive Chef of the award-winning boutique catering firm, Shiraz Events, she developed and implemented menus for clients such as Microsoft, Elle Magazine and Beyonce’s Heat. Most recently, Tessa created the dinner series Methods & Madness.

Her food styling and writing can be found in such outlets as Brides, WSJ, BonAppetit.com, Epicurious, and Latin Lover magazine and in commercials for clients like American Express, Cream of Wheat, Coca Cola, The Food Network and Bird's Eye

Methods & Madness is available to cater your needs from an intimate dinner to a wedding to the launch of a new brand. We can find the right staff, DJ, decor or specialty cocktail to pair with your event and/or brand. Our food is clean, eclectic, thoughtfully sourced, techniqued but not technical, familiar and far-flung. We love to see people gathered around the table enjoying each others' company while meeting old and new friends, tasting old and new flavors; hearing, smelling, touching and seeing beautiful things.

methods and madness dinner series:

"Dinner with my Creative Crushes" is how Tessa describes the Methods & Madness dinner series. She started the dinners in New York as a way for her as a chef to collaborate with creatives and friends outside of the kitchen. Over the past three years Tessa has worked with typographers, collage artists, illustrators, perfumers, baristas, foragers and printmakers to produce intimate, often interactive dinners with menus informed by the artists’ processes (their “methods”) and inspiration (their “madness”). 

A special limited-edition artwork is produced for diners to bring home after the meal.
